A FORMER Ayr United player has been caged for 10 weeks after crashing his car while THREE times the drink-drive limit.

Shamed ex-United player Mark Casey, 26, was ALREADY banned before the crash on the way home from a night in the pub with pals.

Last week Sheriff Joanna Johnstone told the star he'd "flouted" the law and prison was the only option.

She said: "He's had opportunities that a lot of people we see in these courts just don't have."

Airdrie Sheriff Court heard how Casey, who now stays in Cumbernauld, crashed days after a row with his girlfriend.

He claimed he'd only kept his car because his partner - who lives in Portsmouth - used it when she came north to visit.

The court was told he drove home after she ditched the car at the pub on her last trip.
