AN Ayr chef who kicked a policeman in the head during a struggle and was found with fake money has been caged for eight months.

Former Station Hotel cook Scott Brown, 31, whose address was also the Smith Street hotel, appeared after having pled guilty to being in possession of counterfeit notes, to assaulting a police officer by spitting on him, assaulting another officer by repeatedly biting him, and finally to kicking a third officer on the head, all on November 11 at Station Bridge Road and at Ayr Police Office.

Describing the case, fiscal Brian McGuire said: "In terms of charges one and five, officers were acting on certain information and made their way to the bridge area to a garage there. They saw the accused leaving the garage and on seeing the police he discarded a quantity of papers on to the ground. Police recovered these and found that it was fraudlent £20 notes. The accused was told he was being arrested and at this point his conduct changed and he spat in the face of one of the officers and using the heel of his boot kicked the same officer in the area of his waist.

"He was taken to Ayr Police Office and later on asked to see a casualty surgeon because of the pain he was in."
