A MAN has been remanded in custody on a charge of murder after the death of a 21-year-old in a fire.

Rescue services had been called out to a house at Mill Street in Ayr at 5am on Sunday November 9, but were unable to save Shaun Keanan, who died in the blaze.

Following the incident a 22-year-old was arrested and subsequently reported to the procurator fiscal’s office in Ayr in connection with the death.

Jason McInally appeared on petition at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, charged with murder and breach of the peace.

During his brief apperance in private, he made no plea or declaration.

The case was continued for further examination.
