Last service held as increased costs force church to close

PARISHIONERS of one of the area’s oldest church buildings paid it a fond farewell on Sunday.

The last service to be held in St John’s Church, in Girvan’s Piedmont Road, was a choral worship conducted by former rector Most Reverend Dr Idris Jones, who is now the Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church and Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway.
