BREAKING NEWS: Flash flood warning

The Met Office Severe Weather Service have issued an Flash Warning for the West of Scotland for later this afternoon and through tonight.

Heavy and thundery rain is expected through the rest of the afternoon and into the evening giving falls of 15 to 20mm within a 3 hour period. This may result in disruption to transport systems due to unpredictable localised flooding.

This Flash Warning is valid from 14.28 to 21.00hrs on Thursday 14 August 2008.

Actions :

You are advised to take extra care and refer to the latest Scottish Environment Protection Agency Live Flood Warning Information.

Take ownership of your travel arrangements and safety :

Refer to "Traffic Scotland" for further advice on road conditions.

Be aware that transport systems, such as the Erskine Bridge may be affected - check with the media, web sites (trafficscotland.org), or the contact numbers provided below if you have concerns about disruption to your travel.
