Meet the master of malt
By David Johnston
SCOTLAND’S longest serving malt master - Ayr man David Stewart - is having a special whisky released in his honour to commemorate his time in the industry.
David, 63, is the master blender and malt master at William Grant and Sons.
He has worked for the firm for 45 years, starting as an apprentice in 1962.
The celebratory blend is a new hand-crafted 12 Year Old single malt called the Balvennie Signature, with a fruity and spicy taste, the hallmarks of the blend.
He said: “Maturing and marrying whisky has been my passion for over 45 years and it’s an honour to mark the moment with an addition to The Balvenie family.”
