DOZENS of people gathered in Ayr for two special family performances all in aid of saving Pets Corner.

The fundraising evening at the Gaiety Theatre last Friday was well attended with everyone wanting to lend their support to save the popular family attraction at Belleisle Park.

The audience was treated to Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast by M&M Theatrical Productions who answered the fundraising call to keep the animal centre open.

We revealed last week the desperate plea made by Friends of Pets Corner who warned that funding was still needed as the six month extensions is quickly running out.

After a public outcry to the axe the council gave the park until October 1 to come up with the money needed to carry on running it. The group are now hoping to gain charity status which will open up more options for grants in the coming weeks but donations from South Ayrshire residents are still badly needed.

If you are interested in becoming a member they are also looking for four new members as the committee needs ten, specifically an accountant and solicitor to help.
