Jessica Appeal: Kids' fun way of raising cash
By Roisin McGroarty
FOUR amazing young children have been helping to aid the Jessica Appeal all by themselves.
Nine-year-old’s Hanah Walker, Alisha Cunningham, Lauren Wesson and Cassie Ireland all decided to try and raise money that will give Troon’s Jessica Findlay a chance at life with experimental surgery in America.
The Heathfield Primary girls decided to try and raise money after reading about others fundraising events in the our newspaper. Determined to raise as much as they could they asked the depute headteacher if they could try and raise money as possible by organising something in the school.
Teachers and staff readily agreed and the P5 girls arranged fun and games for primary three children one Friday lunchtime with all youngsters having to pay 50p to join the fun.
The day was a terrific success with loads of seven-year-old pupils really enjoying their lunch with a host of board games, jigsaws and the exciting Buckaroo.
A spokeswoman from Heathfield Primary added: “Well done girls.”
Now all the money raised on the day will be counted before the end of the term and a cheque sent to the appeal.
