Arrow Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

You've got to feel a bit sorry for George Lucas. Having hit the jackpot with the original Star Wars trilogy and then Indiana Jones, pretty much anything he'd try to do afterwards was always going to have to be utterly brilliant to stop the moaning fanboys. Instead he gave us the Ewok movies, the prequels and then – my personal frothing at the mouth moment – The Clone Wars film. The Star Wars franchise is like a horse being flogged to within an inch of its life. But there is still life in the beast yet – at least if you're a gamer.

Arrow Samba de Amigo (Wii)

There are some games which I pick up with a heavy heart. While they may be brilliantly coded and exciting for their core demographic, the basic premise doesn't appeal so I play them grudgingly.

Arrow Dragon Quest IV (Nintendo DS)

If the last few months are anything to go by then it would seem decent RPGs for handheld consoles are like buses – you wait around for ages and then loads come along at once.

Arrow Opoona (Nintendo Wii)

I have a terrible terrible sense of direction. I have been known to get lost in people's houses. That's ordinary sized houses. There is just a small part of my mind which is incapable of comprehending (and retaining) where things are in relation to each other. Navigation is my Kryptonite if you will. It makes getting places rather frustrating at the best of times.

Arrow Space Chimps

As inevitable as the school holiday friendly children's films are the game tie ins aimed at encouraging the friovolous spending of pocket money.

Arrow Civilisation Revolution (XBox 360)

This is one of the hardest reviews I have ever had to write. Not because the game is especially difficult to explain, or rubbish, but rather because dragging myself away from the 360 long enough to come to work and actually type something out has been very difficult indeed.

Arrow Space Invaders Extreme (PSP and DS)

The thing about growing up is lots of things that you thought were brilliant in your formative years never seem to be as good as you remember them.

School has broken up. But for mischievious Luso Clemens there's one last detention to sit through before he can escape. Alone in the library he finds an ancient book with magical powers which pulls him into the mystical land of Ivalice and the middle of a battlefield. And it might just be the key to a peaceful school holiday for gamers everywhere...

Arrow Kung Fu Panda

It's a sad fact of life that most computer games based on films are, well a bit rubbish really. They tend to be fast-coded tie-ins aimed at getting some extra cash out of the parents of youngsters who fall in love with a particular character - after all who needs decent gameplay when you've got such an undiscerning market? With this in mind, I opened Kung Fu Panda with some trepidation. And that was even before I realised it starred the vocal talents of Jack Black who, for my money, is one of the most irritating actors working today.

Arrow Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

With the plethora of music-focused games coming out at the moment my wireless guitar has never been so busy. But with so many different games giving you the chance to harness your inner rock god (or indeed goddess) all vying for your cash, is Guitar Hero: Aerosmith worth opening your wallet?

Arrow Lego Indiana Jones

George Lucas needs to stop. After the horror of the Star Wars prequels, this summer sees Indiana Jones dusted off - with the almost-septugenarian Harrison Ford putting the iconic hat on one more time. The film is, well, disappointingly mediocre.

Arrow Rock Band (Xbox 360)

As Brad Pitt himself almost said, the first rule of Rock Band is don't talk about Rock Band. And the second rule of Rock Band is don't talk about Rock Band.
